They are both important, but I would prioritize distance to the ear since you are going to want the stereo field to be solid. If I go with the 18s, what is more important, distance to the ears or distances from the front wall? PS: I also use IsoAcoustics stands and the DO make a huge difference especially in the low end.Ģ. I'm testing them over the weekend so I'll be able to report more in detail but so far I think they are the the best bang for the buck in their price range. So far totally my favorite, I'm probably gonna pull the trigger on them. Also, the low end got better when we switched the amp to the 500W from the 100W one. Maybe a little hyped in the high mids but it's one of those things that I notice as I'm comparing and in 10 seconds I get used to it and I don't notice anymore. HUGE sweet spot, I can't believe how these things project good sounds so far, I really don't have to stay dead center to listen to music.
Then the Amphions came in and "boy oh boy"!Ĭristal clear image throughout a great portion of the spectrum, probably closer to the ProAcs in term of clarity of the top end but with a solid low-end that could give a great representation of what's below the size limitation. The ProAcs were amazing on top but lacking a little bit of the bottom, but I swear I could hear "dither" to give you an idea. The downside is the sweet spot being pretty narrow.
The Twin 6 be are pretty great, great low end, soft top end with everything in between.
They are well balanced throughout the whole spectrum but it's like if they were out of focus compared to the others. The ones I liked less were the Neumann, unfortunately I really wanted to love them but they were just too cloudy if it makes sense. I tested Focal Twins 6be together with ProAc SM 100, Amphion One18, and Neumann KH310. Ok guys I had a little listening test at Vintage King LA for a few speakers around $4k-5k.
